    "My favorite part about working with Joel is that he is very knowledgeable and direct, yet he is also relatable in his way of instructing. I have been with Joel for a few years now, and while we have developed a friendship, there is a strong basis of communication that comes from having a coach. From the beginning, he has been clear about expectations, and his feedback is clear on what needs to be adjusted in order for me to help him help me.

    For me, getting stronger was the whole point of looking for a powerlifting coach.     "My primary goal when I started coaching with Greg was to develop a better mindset toward my body and health, and not only have I been able to see physical growth (gains, hehe), but I’ve also developed a healthier outlook on my eating habits and self-care outside of the gym!

    A core memory with Greg was at my second powerlifting meet when I felt physically and mentally exhausted going into it, but Greg (and team Luu in general!) were all there to support me and encourage me to do my best! (also when he called me Minah during my 3rd attempt deadlift just so i got mad enough to make 220 fly).

    The timely and insightful responses I receive from being coached by Greg have allowed me to gain more confidence in my lifts while also getting real-time adjustments and check-ins to ensure I am progressing smoothly!"

    All three of my main lifts have improved in both technique and numbers since we started working together. The training is also balanced in a way that I still improve without feeling depleted as well.

    I have achieved meet PRs across all three lifts with Joel. The focus on using accessories to build overall strength while improving technique in the powerlifting movements has greatly enhanced my performance. Since working with Joel, I have set state records in multiple federations and competed in the IPL.”

    "My favorite part about working with Greg is that he is very receptive to changes in my schedule and workload. One of the biggest problems I had with cookie-cutter programs was that they required a giant block of time I had to carve out of my day to lift. Greg's programming fits my schedule much better, down to the day I hit my hardest lifts. Additionally, Greg adjusts for any injuries or fatigue I may be experiencing, which in the past would have ruined a block. Greg is also very quick to respond to any questions I have and provides detailed analysis for all of [my] sets.

    One of my best memories with Greg was near the beginning of my training when we took turns setting up on the bench so that I could learn optimal hand placement and leg drive. This was much better than before, when I would send a video of my top set and was simply told to increase leg drive, which didn’t really click."

    "Joel is very attentive and provides excellent feedback for any lifting questions or concerns. For each video I send him, he notes points of improvement and is happy to elaborate on any details. This has been a huge help in perfecting some technique issues I had when I started programming with him.

    I recently competed at the Southeast Collegiate Cup. Although I didn’t outwardly express it, I wasn’t too excited to compete, and I had a couple of rough blocks leading up to the meet. Once I started warming up with Joel, it was clear that he was confident in my ability to place and hit some of my goal numbers. Although I missed my third attempts on squat and bench, he expressed that he was proud of my progress despite some setbacks during prep. As disappointed as I might have felt in the moment, I still managed to get second place, thanks to his encouragement! I’m excited to continue my powerlifting career with Joel as my coach."

    I have become a much more technical lifter, focusing on a few minute details at a time to ensure consistency in variables and improve in areas that are easy to control.
